The way we send information to one another has drastically changed from the 1800s to modern days. In 1852, it took 73 days for a letter in the mail to be delivered from London to Australia. In modern times, an email or a text message can be delivered in the blink of an eye.
The digitization of communication has had both benefits and trade-offs. One benefit of the digitization of communication is that it has made communication much more accessible and efficient. Two trade-offs are that we lose the tactical experience of receiving a letter in the mail and that there can be misunderstandings in texts, as we often send them quickly and occasionally with little thought.
